Ole Miss Students will find another education outside the classroom, for these are many opportunities for involvement in student organizations as Ole Miss. Students will find that involvement in University student organizations will be different from involvement they might have had in high school organizations. The responsibility and decision to join organizations at Ole Miss belong to the individual and should reflect the individual’s interests and commitment. We have a wide variety of organizations ranging from student government to special interest groups like the German Club and the Student Rebel Athletic Foundation. There is no shortage of organizations with more then 250 student organizations.
Some students choose to form their own organizations that reflect their interests or goals. This is a fairly simple process and is initiated in the Office of the Dean of Students. Involvement outside of the classroom can benefit students in numerous ways, and students are encouraged to get involved.
The two main privileges that a recognized student organization has are the abilities to get money from the University and to reserve on campus rooms.
The Office of the Dean of Students in Room 422 of the Union works with many student organizations. If you are having trouble finding a place to get involved, stop by and talk to one of the staff members there.
